During the month of October, our topic was African stories. Ailish and Daniel gave us 8 different african stories to choose from. We then all picked our favorite story and two people from each pod told the class about their story. The whole class picked their favorite and the pod who won did a bit of a recap on the story. Then a company called Recreate gave our class a lot of recyclable materials. Then we all decided together what material we are going to use for each part of the project. Ailish and Daniel then gave all the pods roles for each person in the pod. Each pod got at least 2 scenes to do and all the materials we would need for the scenes. My role was the measurer and helped Sharmeen with the house. Every time we finished something for the scenes we would go and put the things on the board and then when everything was on the board it looked really good and colorful. It took approximately 6 weeks to complete our project. I learnt that you can create such an amazing piece of art using recyclable materials you basically use every single day. I really enjoyed doing this project because it was extremely fun and I really liked how we all worked together, and also how nice it came out at the end. I would have never thought we could create such an amazing art piece using the recycled materials we had to make it.

Science ExperimentWash Your Hands!!
Last week the Maple class decided to do an experiment about bacteria for Science Week. Firstly, we got our ingredients (bread, table, door handle, washed and unwashed hands); we then spread the bread onto the objects and waited for a couple days. To summarise, the table had a bunch of germs and fungus, this is what happens when you don't disinfect the table regularly. Unwashed hands are actually almost the same as the washed but with slightly more mould. The washed hands are a bit clean but overall it’s safe to say that it is not edible. And finally the door handle was very disgusting, almost matching the table in germs. The results from our science experiment show that it is very important to keep washing your hands!! Class Quality RingClass Poem
Maple Class is kind and fun, they always get their work done. Our class is always artistic, mind you we don't wear lipstick! Altogether were persistent, our work is always consistent! Learning is fun when were out in the sun. Empathy is all we need, it is always guaranteed! Inside Out ProjectsThe projects are all about different emotions and feelings. We have discussed different ways to deal with the emotions we feel.

Our class Quality Ring is a ring that has all of our class personality traits. This is represented through 25 different ribbon colors. Each group had a role to creating the ring. Pod 1 decided on what words represented both are class and the colors. Pod 2 collaboratively chose the pattern of the colors. Pod 3 measured the radius/ diameter and circumference of the hula hop and cut the ribbons so they would all fit on the ceiling. Pod 4 cut the ribbons and created a class anthem using the colors and words that the pod came up with. We had great fun creating the quality ring,

Cycle to School Week
Bike Week
We have noticed so many families cycling to school over the last few weeks, such a great way to get to and from school!!
This week is Bike Week and Fingal County Council are running a virtual cycling event called “Pedal for your Medal”. It is a 50km cycle challenge where participants are asked to complete an accumulated distance of 50kms cycling during bike week.
However, we realise this is a lot to ask of primary school children and would like to involve them by making it a little easier on their legs whilst also encouraging them to participate.
We are hoping that the younger children could register for their 50kms during Bike Week with a view of them completing 50kms by the end of October. In return for their completed 50kms they will receive their very only 50km bespoke medal designed by MMI Group.
